About Apple Mail

Mail is a rich HTML email client on iPhone that works well with most popular email systems like Yahoo!, Google Gmail, AOL and MobileMe from Apple in addition to most industry-standard POP3, IMAP, and Microsoft Exchange email systems. Mail allows you to send and receive images, which are displayed in the text messages. Mail allows viewing of PDF, Microsoft Word, Excel and other attachments on your Apple iPhone.

STEP by STEP: Configuring Email – Apple iPhone Mail

Step 1. You must set a default account when sending messages from an iPhone application outside of Apple Mail.
Examples include sending a photo from Photos or tapping a business' email address in Maps.

Step 2. To Set the Default Account:
Go to your Home screen and choose Settings -> Mail -> Default Account. Then choose your account.
If you're adding an additional account with software version 2.0 or later, touch the Settings icon on the Home screen,
select Mail, Contacts, Calendars and select Add Account.

Step 3. Setting Up Your Email Account:
If you're setting up your account from Microsoft Exchange, MobileMe, Gmail, Yahoo! or AOL account, touch the respective icons on the Add Account screen and enter your account information.

If you're setting up an email account from another provider, select Other.

In software version 2.0 or later, Mail automatically sets up many popular POP and IMAP email accounts using just your email address and password. As Mail looks up settings that match your email account you may see a note appear that will describe any limitations you may experience in using your email account.

Step 4. Syncing email account settings to iPhone
UseiTunes to sync your email account settings to your Apple iPhone.
Note: Syncing email account settings to iPhone ONLY copies the email account setup, not messages.
Whether the messages in your inbox appear on both iPhone or iPod touch and your computer depends on the type of email account you have and how it’s configured. You may need to enter your password on the device after syncing account settings.

Congratulations, you have finished setting up your email account in Apple iPhone Mail!
